Introducing UMR

Baylor University is partnering with UMR, a UnitedHealthcare company, to administer health benefits for faculty and staff and their families. This means UMR will process and pay claims for care you receive, answer your questions and help you get the most out of your health plan.

WHAT IS NOT CHANGING?

There are no benefit plan design changes for 2023. You will be able to choose from the same plan options, but they’ll be administered by UMR. For detailed information about medical plans offered to you, please see the links below, or visit: Baylor Health Plan

WHAT IS CHANGING?

As the new benefits administrator, UMR will handle many of the tasks associated with managing your health benefits, including processing claims and answering any questions you may have.

You will receive a new benefits ID card from UMR with a new member ID number to use any time you receive health care services after January 1, 2023. Doctors and hospitals in the UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus network have agreed to reduce what they charge for services. So when you go to an in-network health care provider, both you and Baylor Health Plan will pay less for the services you receive. See a sample ID card.

You will have a new team to call for any health care questions. Your UMR Plan Advisor team will guide you in your health care journey and help with any health-related questions, big or small. You'll also have a new website to access information about your benefits and claims. After you receive your new member ID card from UMR, you can sign up for online services at umr.com.

LOOKING TOWARD 2023

We encourage you to check whether your current providers are in the Choice Plus network directory. Use the links below to see a list of participating UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus providers in your area. If you do not see your physician or other health care professional listed, you can request to have your provider join the network. Please contact us at welcomebaylor@umr.com and our UMR customer service team will work with you to submit a request.

Checking your providers’ network status in advance can help minimize any potential disruption to your care, as we may be able to have your provider added to the Choice Plus network.
